Harnessing an Unrecognised Economic Power

Featuring

Comparative Advantage: harnessing an unrecognised economic power
For Millennials living in Nairobi, sending and storing digital money with their phones is as natural as texting friends. Comparative Advantage, a film by Tomer Kantor, explores life through the eyes of Kenya’s first post-Colonial, pro-democracy generation. It explores how digital technology can enhance community tradition and stimulate entrepreneurship in the country’s informal economy, the Biashara. Comparative Advantage gains access to the ‘table banking’ phenomena – social saving circles, created and used by people for centuries. In doing so, it shines a light on how mobile devices open up exciting new opportunities that can stimulate trade and partnership between global communities.
Join us for the London screening, accompanied by members of the film production and Chamapesa team who will host a Q&A session at the end followed by your usual Coinscrum networking opportunities over a cold beer.
